Rustic Elegant Forest

Payton & Mike are the most laid-back couple I have ever met. When it came to designing their wedding, it all came together very naturally. They wanted a simple, yet elegant design with hints of their love of the outdoors. So together, we dreamt up this design: Rustic Elegant Forest.

Naturally rustic elements like tree stumps, antlers and weathered barn wood were mixed with softer touches of ferns, moss, baby's breath and flickering candlelight.

The ceremony took place at the Rotary Peace Park in Vegreville, AB. It was the perfect secluded spot, completely surrounded by beautiful trees. My team and I added a few decor pieces, with the barn wood chalkboards, fresh florals and lanterns. The spotlight was on the gorgeous archway the couple provided, along with the perfect rustic seating - tree stump benches - created by the groom's father. The decor was a group effort and came together seamlessly. A little bit of rain before the ceremony made the park smell so fresh!

The reception took place at the Vegreville Social Centre. We designed this space by bringing the outdoors in. Their guests were greeted by a photo area featuring our white wooden doors and our "Norma" arm chair. A deer pillow was added as a nod to the couple's love of hunting and the outdoors (and to match their awesome collection of sheds found throughout the rest of the decor).

Their beautiful engagement photos were on display on one of our rustic doors.

The head table was the focal point of the room. It was the first thing the guest's saw when they entered the hall. We kept the design simple, with white tablecloths and a white sheer backdrop. A mixture of greenery was placed along the front of the tables, with small tree slices, sheds and shimmering candlelight.

Wooden spools (from the bride!) were placed on each side of the head table. They provided the perfect spot for fresh florals, candlelight and some more sheds.

The centrepieces were a mixture of mason jars filled with fresh florals and candleholders placed on wood cookies. The eucalyptus mixed in with the flowers smelled sssooo good!

The tables were draped in dark grey tablecloths, with white table runners and white napkins - all rented from Esteem Wedding & Event Rentals in Vegreville. (support local!)

And finally, the highlight of the night - was the candy/deer jerky table. This table was so much fun to decorate and I know the guests thoroughly enjoyed it. What a great way to tie the whole theme together!

Thank you to my amazing crew - for without them, none of this would be possible!
Heidi, Katie, Marley, Nicole, Lynette, Tracy and my Mom - thank you for all of your hard work, encouragement and laughter. Getting to work with my family and friends makes this job so sweet.

Thank you to my friend, Tammy with 171 Willow Lane Studio (she did the awesome up-dos for the bride & bridesmaids) and she graciously helped out by filling up the candy/deer jerky table throughout the night.

Thank you and congratulations to Tanneil from Esteem Wedding & Event Rentals - who as a new mom of barely a week - still managed to provide fantastic customer service and rentals for our setup. Thank you, Tanneil (and Sandi) - enjoy those baby snuggles!

And finally, thank you Payton & Mike for trusting me with your wedding design! You were both an absolute dream to work with and I wish you many, many years of love, happiness and time to enjoy the outdoors together!

Sincerely,  Terralyn
